The upper portion is meticulously handwoven using two different colors of thread, each hand-dyed by local artisans from Fatehpur. In contrast, the lower half embodies the essence of Kashmir with yak wool fabric, skillfully handcrafted by generations of artisans from the region.
The intricate process is integral to this creation, as it takes at least a month for a single artisan to produce 2 meters of yak wool fabric, which is then transformed into this exquisite work of art. Furthermore, the uniqueness of each piece in this collection highlights the design's individuality, ensuring that no two jackets are alike. How should I wash my Farak garments?
We recommend hand washing your garments
separately in cold water using a mild, chemical-free detergent. Avoid
bleach, soaking, or harsh scrubbing, especially for naturally dyed and
block-printed items.
Can I machine wash Farak clothing?
Since our pieces are handcrafted using delicate processes like handweaving and block printing, machine washing
is not recommended. Hand wash is the safest way to preserve the
integrity and detailing of the garment.
Will the color fade over time?
Some natural fading may occur, especially
with plant-based dyes. This is a normal and beautiful part of owning
handcrafted garments — they soften and evolve with every wear.
How should I dry the clothes?
Always dry your Farak pieces in the shade,
not under direct sunlight. This protects the fabric and colors from
fading prematurely. Lay flat or hang dry gently.
Can I iron my Farak clothes?
Yes, but use a low-heat setting. For
delicate fabrics, place a cotton cloth over the garment while ironing or
steam lightly from the reverse side.
